Certified Educator

I became a certified educator in the state of Connecticut in 2018, with an endorsement in Chemistry (031) and ability to teach secondary education. I began working as a high school chemistry teacher for a public high school in southern Connecticut under a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) in 2017 as I was working towards certification. This was, by far, the most fun and fulfilling job. Interacting with and building relationships with the students and my colleagues was THE BEST part of going to work every day. I have taught Honors Chemistry, Practical Chemistry (for our students that need extra support), and ESL Chemistry (for our students learning English). I worked with colleagues to write curriculum under the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and curriculum facing documents for the school system. I resigned in 2024 after giving birth to my daughter, but the impact from my tenure there has been huge in where I plan to take my life now.
